EX150 Hydraulic Pump

Recently an Hitachi EX150 hydraulic pump was sent to us for examination. It had been repaired previously by “John Doe” and was performing poorly. We opened the unit to find the cylinders , pistons, valve plates , shaft and servo pump badly damaged. We noticed that one of the cylinders and valve plates had been replaced and a new retainer plate with “some” of the retainer plate screws also replaced. The screws were of different lenght and tensile strenght (not good!). On further examination we found the culprit. Half of one of the original screws !!. This proved to be a very costly mistake as the pump required a complete rebuild and test. The biggest mistake was not clearing the system properly and not using all new correct screws on the retainer plate. Lesson? “Do it right first time”
